Star Challenge Project : The working group on academic affairs has organized a Star Challenge Project since June 2016.
The project aims to recruit new and young government officials working at the Royal Irrigation Department to be representatives in ‘Young Professionals Programme’ during the WIF2. From the list of candidates, nine rising stars have been selected. The recruitment process is relatively tough as they must pass the intensive interview with RID high-level officials. All of them were outstanding in their performance and were able to express their vision regarding water management under the extreme climate as well as water model to comply with the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy. THAICID has already prepared a special training class for these young professionals to equip them with advanced presentation and debating skills
On Monday, 29th August 2016 Dr. Somkiat Prajamwong, Deputy Director General for Engineerings of the Royal Irrigation Department (RID), and the Secretary General to THAICID called for the 4th Progress Meeting on 2nd World Irrigation Forum (WIF2) and 67th International Executive Council Meeting (67th IEC). The WIF2 and 67th IEC will be held in Chang Mai, Thailand during 6-12 November 2016.
Important step to boost international cooperation on water resources management
A Ministerial Round Table Meeting is scheduled for Ministers from invited countries during the WIF2. The discussion will focus on the pathway towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), mainly on target 6: Clean water and sanitation and target 17: Partnerships for the goals, set by the United Nations. Recently, there are fourteen Ministers from irrigation-related Ministries worldwide agree to participate in the meeting. It is expected that there will be more Ministers from ASEAN countries and those which are in active working relationship regarding water resources management to attend the meeting.
