INVITATION FOR INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION

2nd World Irrigation Forum and 67th International Executive Council Meeting, Chiang Mai, THAILAND

The Royal Irrigation Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand is happy to extend this invitation to manufacturers of irrigation equipment such as drip/sprinkler manufacturers, water flow measuring instruments, soil moisture monitoring probes, consultancy firms engaged in agricultural water management, application of geospatial technology, international organizations, etc. that would like to connect with the stakeholders in the sector and engage them. Also, research and education institutions could avail the opportunity to showcase their products, services and knowledge to more than thousand participants from seventy countries across the world gathered to participate in the 2nd World Irrigation Forum (WIF2), the flagship event of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID).

The 2nd World Irrigation Forum

Main Theme : Water Management in a Changing World: Role of Irrigation for Sustainable Food Production

Sub-Themes:

1. Key issues of irrigation and drainage in balancing water, food, energy and ecology
2. Management of climatic extremes with focus on floods and droughts
3. Key and smart actions to alleviate hunger and poverty through irrigation and drainage

The Forum brings together various stakeholders concerned with agricultural water management and development to address the issues of sustainable food production by enhancing agricultural productivity using less water. The Forum will bring together ministers, top officials, field practitioners, consultants, academicians, young professionals and farmer representatives, from more than seventy countries with combined irrigated area of more than 90 percent of the world. The technical sessions along with ministerial and high level roundtables, special sessions, and international workshops together with side events are included to facilitate a fruitful discussion on the role of irrigation and drainage in the post 2015 era of sustainable development.

Exhibition

The International Exhibition to be held from 06-08 November 2016 at Chiang Mai International Exhibition and Convention Centre (CMECC), Chiang Mai, Thailand is an integral component of the 2nd World Irrigation Forum (WIF2).

General Information of International Convention and Exhibition Centre Commemorating His Majesty’s 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary

The International Convention and Exhibition Centre Commemorating His Majesty’s 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary popularly known as Chiang Mai International Exhibition and Convention Centre (CMECC) is one of the largest convention and exhibition centres in Southeast Asia with a total space of 521,600 square meters. It is decorated by Thai-Lanna style and completely well prepared for both national and international convention, exhibitions and fairs. Comprising with usable space of 60,000 square meters, CMECC is equipped with most modern facilities and professional services to host the world-class events.

The international exhibition, along with interactive sessions provides a great opportunity for the Forum delegates and visitors to have a hands-on look at latest innovations, emerging technologies and products and services that are available in irrigation, drainage, flood management, water resources management sectors.

To facilitate these interactions, the exhibition will take place in close proximity to the lecture halls, academic poster exhibition, registration area and coffee bars. Further, the exhibition hall will also accommodate a stage/podium, where interactive sessions, cultural shows, demonstration, etc. can be regularly organized.
